Today and tomorrow are fall "study break." By which the school means, "if you have catch-up work to do, do it. If not, the rest of you have fun!!!!!" Fortunately, I am one of the ones without catch-up work. So, I will do some little tasks that I need to do, and rest, and do some Old Testament reading, and daydream about the fall retreat, and all the friends I miss, especially.........

Oh, there now. I think I'll leave you hanging! Changing the subject,

So sports is really in full gear at Calvary. Our soccer team just made it to regionals by winning on tuesday. Now they have to get through Ozark College, and our feared foes, Manhattan Christian College, which has like the best soccer team in the NCCAA. We're pretty good this year, Manhattan only beat us 4-0 last time we played them, and they usually win by a LLOOTT more. On top of that, three of the goals were mental errors by our spastic but loveable goalie, Scot (I can see him now doing pullups on the goal while we control the ball on the other side of the field for like five minutes while playing one of the teams we beat 16-0. All the fans start chanting "pull-ups, pull-ups, pull-ups!!" Yes. We love our goalie.). Really that game should have been 1-0. It would be so awesome if we could just "accidentally" upset Manhattan in regionals and make it to nationals. We would party at Calvary. It would also be fun because one of my good friends takes classes at MCC! Heh heh, you know who you are!

Well, I guess this post is long enough. One thing I'm very happy about is that College Life Seminar (what your mom told you before you came to college, in more intellectual words) and Personal Computing (difficult for only the most computer illiterate students) are over!!! That frees up four hours of my week, and now I'll be able to have a decent lunch on tuesdays and thursdays and sleep in on wednesdays and fridays, in addition to having more homework time! The final for College Life was sick, but I studied well enough and I think I did well. Ok, everyone, thanks for reading such a long post!! You are awesome have a good week!

I is, a colij-studnt; jAMES

Friday, October 06, 2006

Look at this. I'm updating.

College is cool. All my classes are awesome and interesting. I am the basketball manager and a volleyball line judge. I'm in chorale and our first concert was last night, and it went really well!

I'm actually done with my homework and I finished a paper for next week, so I'm happy.

Our youth group is doing really well, some awesome new people are coming and new events happening and changing the whole way we've done youth goup.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT!!!!!!!!!!

That's pretty much my life since I've last updated! Have a superb weekend!

Tuesday, August 22, 2006

Ooohh...yeah....I have a xanga. I wonder what this button does?? *clicks "New Weblog Entry"* Hmmm there's a lot of white space....I think I'll just type some stuff here......Ok lots of random stuff......oh, I KNOW! I'll remind myself when I'm supposed to be at college: SELF, BE AT CALVARY AT 9:00 AM THURSDAY FOR REGISTRATION!! Ok that's done, I won't forget now. Come to think of it, most of my friends have already started school....I, for one, don't have much to do until registration. Oh yeah, I AM going to our youth group's worship night tomorrow! It's gonna be sweet, Josh did a really good job of organizing it. Praise God! Yeah...and then I can't wait to go to Skyler's this weekend, he's always fun to hang out with.

Hmmmmmmm.....all this random stuff......how do I save it so I can remember what I typed?? Well let's just try this "Submit" button....."Cancel" might do something bad......

Monday, August 14, 2006

So camp is over for this summer. God really did a lot of cool things at camp this year!!!! I grew closer to him as I shared the Gospel with campers, and the speakers this year were really awesome!! I'm already looking forward to next summer.

One really cool thing I got to do this summer was to go with Andrew Hawkinson to several church in Kansas with a team of staffers for a camp presentation. Each time I got to share about prayer and ways God is answering it at camp (since each one of these churches pray for the camp and send staff there). In the process God showed me some things about prayer. Anyways we went to Abilene, Hutchinson, Wichita, Abilene again, and Salina. Each church was a unique experience, and some served us VERRYY DELICIOUS LUNCH with VERRYY DELICIOUS RHUBARB PIES!!!!! If you ever go to Grace and Truth Bible Chapel....well, never mind, you'll probably never go there. It was good though!!!

Ok well, more later!

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Welllllll.....

I just got back from HSLT in Colorado. It was AWESOME!!!! The type of evangelism we did this year was totally unique...we knocked on doors and asked people if they wanted any free work done. Then we would give them a tract and an invite to the church in Fort Collins. Some people got chances to share the Gospel while they were working and people were amazed that we would serve for free. The whole camp this year was about service. It was cool to see how God had us knock on people's doors right when some of them needed us the most. There's a lot to be said for word of mouth evangelism, but this was also a great experience to put actions behind the talk.

Saturday was a free day for the church groups to bond and do fun stuff. We hiked this trail called Montgomery Pass Trail. It was awesome, we hiked up all the way to the top of this 11,000 foot mountain above the tree line where there was SNOW!!!!! The view was spectacular, I'll probably never see anything like it again, unless I climb more mountains. It was different from being on a plane. Anyways the snow was fun too.

Also the van we took developed some transmission problems that took more than a day to repair, so we stayed at one of our youth leader's relative's house on monday and tuesday. I got to go kayaking on the little lake that was there.

Then we got back at like 1:30 this morning and I slept in. I got up and my mom gave me some mail I'd gotten from Calvary. Happy to say, one was a letter of acceptance!!!!! So that's awesome.

Not much planned for this week, then on saturday morning I'm leaving for camp with my bro's! I love counseling and can't wait to get back to it.

Well I'll see you all later!!

Monday, July 10, 2006

Ok, people, I'm back from camp. On wednesday, however, I leave for HSLT with GCM in Colorado. That will last until I come back on monday.

Camp was really encouraging for me! I got to counsel all four weeks of camp, plus camping LTC and staffing Family Camp. I was blessed with many opportunities to share the Gospel, and got to lead three campers to Christ!!! I also strengthened a lot of friendships and made a couple new ones . In two weeks I go back for JH2, HS2, and HS3. After that is college..........................................................................

I'm not doing anything after I get back from LT, so that week if you want to do something together (those of you who live close enough) just call me.

Skinny Shamus O'leary (Sam's nickname for me.....)

Tuesday, July 04, 2006

Hi. Had graduations and parties and lots of other craziness! I had a recital/graduation yesterday!!! The recital part went well and was awesome and then my parents gave me my diploma! I was especially pleased that the Monningtons, Gossells, William, Nathaneul, and several others were there!!! It was cool seeing them.

Yeah and saturday Stephen and I went to Adam Brown's graduation party! It was awesome, a whole lot of quizzers from HFF were there, and of course the Brauningers, who are in their own class (LOL)!! We played garage band style music under the Brown's back porch, it was REALLY LOUD and really fun! Before that we played old-style whiffleball in their cul-de-sac, and volleyball on a four-foot net! Haha good times!! Also, this is the first year that I've gotten a tan in Missouri. Heh.

Well next week I'll be getting a tan in Kansas! Kansas Bible Camp, to be specific. Who knows, I might not even update before then. I can't wait!!!!! The ONLY downside is, no nationals picnic!!! Waaah!! Unless I get a miracle ride home or somethin'.

Oh, yeah, I got a haircut, too, right before the MPE graduation on friday. Today I'm going with the "bird's nest" look. LOL!!!

Chirp chirp, I'm out!
